Why

Here I am
aged sixty
wondering
Why

Why am I not dead
I should be
will be
Inevitably

Life is cheap
look road toll
think Tobruk
We all die

Why is it
why why why
I don't know
Do you

Babies die
mothers die
soldiers kill
I live

Here I am
for now
tired sleepy
why

I breathe
I eat
I see
I hear
I dream
I love
I cry
I know not

Why

A beautiful and poignant asking of a necessary question. Thanks Carey

What the hell is wrong with you Carey? 60 is the best time of your life, You are giving me concern with your morbid talk. Pull yourself together mate there's a long time ahead of you suck it up and be happy. You don't sound like the Carey I knew.

Sorry to be morbid Chas. I don't like it either. Don't worry mate I'm fine. I could never write poetry, just the moment had me try. But there are mysteries, I don't have answers. In the the movie 'Zulu' a soldier asked WHY. The old guy answered, "Because you're 'ere". Fair enough!
